COURAGE IN THE SKIES

A Killer of Lions

Based on the heroic deeds of the Tuskegee Airmen, capturing the spirit of courage in the skies.

SCROLL TO EXPLORE

OVERVIEW

A Killer of Lions tells the powerful story of courage, resilience, and defiance in the face of adversity, inspired by the heroic legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.

DESCRIPTION

The novel follows “Buddy” A. Bowman, Jr., a determined young man who refuses to let racial prejudice define his future. Ignoring his parents’ concerns and the military’s discriminatory policies, Buddy answers his country’s call and sets out to become a pilot.

From the streets of Harlem to the segregated South, Buddy rises through the ranks—entering the Army, advancing to flight school, and ultimately flying dangerous missions over Italy and central Europe as part of the legendary 332nd Fighter Group, a squadron of Black pilots.

In the skies over Germany, he faces the Luftwaffe in intense aerial combat, earning both glory and hardship. But on his final mission, Buddy is shot down over the Balkans and captured by Nazi forces. Refusing to surrender, he escapes into the Romanian countryside, where he joins a band of Partisans—and finds unexpected love with Mariza.
